Stats updating in beta mode

March 18, 2005

Stats updating/XML Uploading is hooked up, but consider it to be in beta mode. It should only take a few minutes for your stats to show up (depending on load) and for now there are no limits as to how often you can upload. If things get too crazy, expect that to change.

There is a 20,000 song limit to processing, so if you have a super massive library export your top played 20k songs to get it to work. Also, please let me know if you get unexpected results.

Stat update rewrite

March 17, 2005

Ok, the stats updating is almost back on. I’ve rewritten it in Java and it’s MUCH FASTER. I’m going to try to do some more testing tonight with those of you who have sync’d via Mobster while the stats have been down (so much for following instructions ;). Please let me know if you see anything weird. Hopefully I’ll have uploading and Mobster syncing back up tomorrow.

Welcome to the new server!

March 8, 2005

Uploading and stats syncing from Mobster are going to be disabled for a bit as I hookup the new back-end. I plan to have them back within a week (hopefully). More updates to come…

Moving to new servers

March 1, 2005

As those of you paying attention can tell, our growth has been accelerating quite a bit lately. We managed to grow the user-base by more than 10% last month, and traffic has increased 10 fold in the last 4 months. You also may have noticed some slow down on the site.

Fortunately we are going to be moving to new servers, so we will be able to support quite a bit more traffic. This move is going to take place over the next week or so, and you may see the site go down intermittently as we set things up in the new environment.

After Musicmobs is up and running on the new boxes, stats updating is going to be disabled for a bit as I rework the back-end. The plan is to get back to updates happing right after you sync or upload your XML, so we can eliminate the 24 hour waiting period.

Once we are on a more stable platform, we will start in on quite a few changes. You’ll have to stick around to see what they are, but it should be pretty exciting as the site grows.

I’d also like to thank Server Beach for providing our hosting to date. Their service has been great and they’ve taken us farther than I originally expected. I highly recommend checking them out if you have a small but rapidly growing site.
