SimilarTunes 1.0.1

August 24, 2006

We recently stumbled upon this nice little app built on top of the Musicmobs and Last.fm APIs:

SimilarTunes works a lot like the “In Your Library” column of Mobster. Basically, it will take the related artist results from Musicmobs and build a playlist out of the recommendations that are available in your iTunes collection. This app is Mac only, but it’s Universal Binary so that’s a plus. Overall, it’s pretty slick.

There is a new version of iTunes Catalog available that features Musicmobs support (syncing stats), among many other features. Be sure to check it out if you get the chance.

More support from Kavasoft

April 1, 2004

Kavasoft has just released iTunes Catalog 1.6.1 with enhanced support for Musicmobs. In addition to being able to open artists up into their Musicmobs artist page, this new release adds the ability to update your stats! The updating feature is only available in the full version of iTunes Catalog, so be sure to register if you like it.

Mobster update

March 31, 2004

Mobster update: I just fixed the bug that was breaking Mobster for most people (if you could get it to run at all!). I’m working on making it compatible with 10.2, and adding Mobster verbiage/linkage to the site. Stay tuned for some more cool stuff coming down the pipeline as well.

Mobster 1.0

March 18, 2004

Ok, big news. I’ve been working on an open source OS X client for Musicmobs. I just finished putting it up on Sourceforge and you can download it here.

Right now it allows you to update your stats and do related artist queries. Let me know what you think of it. Also, if anyone wants to look at the code, and implement a Windows version (or a plugin for another mp3 player) please let me know and I’ll help you out.

I plan on updating the website with more info about this, but I figured I’d give the people who read the news an early introduction.

iTunes Catalog and Musicmobs

December 8, 2003

First of all I’d like to welcome all of the new iTunes Catalog users. KavaSoft was nice enough to include links to Musicmobs in their new 1.5 version. Be sure to check it out here.

As for the uploading, I’m working on a couple of new solutions. I think the next step will be to have client software the does the parsing on the client end and uploads the results to my site. I should be able to support a lot more users with my existing hardware if I do i that way. My estimate is that there will be some form of uploading solution in place by the end of the week. I appreciate everyone’s patience.
